About the Event
April 4, 2025, marks the 57th anniversary of one of the saddest days in U.S. history—the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
While many remember his iconic "I Have a Dream" speech, fewer reflect on his broader vision of justice, peace, and nonviolence. Today, we continue to face suffering, violence, and injustice—both locally and nationally. Gun violence is woven into our society, affecting schools, churches, and public spaces.
Let us gather not only to honor Dr. King and the heroes of the Civil Rights Movement but also to remember countless victims of gun and domestic violence. As Dr. King urged in his 1964 Nobel Peace Prize speech, we must reject revenge, aggression, and retaliation, striving instead for peace and justice.
Join us on Friday, April 4, 2025, for a commemorative program and Candlelight Vigil—a solemn yet powerful appeal for nonviolence, unity, and change.
